Matt McGarr

I'm Matt McGarr and I'm a Scottish based photography graduate of City of Glasgow College.

I took up photography relatively late in life, at the age of 30.  Having gone my entire life previously without real direction or a sense of purpose, photography changed my life.  I've often thought that it may have saved my life.

I am a portrait, commercial and documentary photographer mainly, but have a wide ranging interest in many types of photography.  Anything where I'm learning something new/interesting or generally having fun is what appeals.

FAQ

Can I hire you to photograph me? - Of course!  That is what we photographers do after all.   I have photographed actors & models for their portfolios, bands, business people, families, couples, intimate portraiture (fancy term for 'nude') with some of it on location and some in studio.  Have a look through my portrait portfolio.

Do you photograph weddings?- Yes I do. I have done several weddings, including abroad. I don’t have fixed package prices as each wedding is different but I tend to base my prices on how long I’m required to be there and how far away it is. Have a look at my wedding gallery to have a look at my previous work.

Can I hire you to photograph my business? - Absolutely!  I'd always recommend professional photographs to businesses over smartphone snapshots (which look amateurish) or stock photography (which looks fake). I've been photographing pretty much non-stop for last several years of my life so I'm experienced with a wide range of techniques.  This allows me to photograph buildings/landscapes/action/groups/products/fashion/reportage and whatever else you can think of.  Have a look through my commercial portfolio.

Do you sell prints of your photographs? - Yes I do.  All the photographs you find on the site (including my blog) are for sale.  I only print on request so don't have a stockpile of photographs waiting to be snapped up, which means you will get a custom print but also means you might have to wait a little while longer while I get it printed/framed etc for you.

Do I have to hire any equipment to employ you? - I have the equipment I need to do almost any job.  If it was something very specialised like underwater photography, you'd be better finding a specialised underwater photographer.

Do you have a studio? - No I do not.  If you wanted a studio shoot, the cost of hiring would need to be factored into the budget.  I do have studio lighting equipment though so can essentially set up a studio in any space big enough.  That could be a living room or an outdoor space.
